How to import your Clio contacts into TrustReq

Last updated 10 months ago

Connecting your Clio account with TrustReq makes it easier than ever to manage your contacts seamlessly. To import your Clio contacts into TrustReq, follow these simple steps.

First, ensure your Clio account is linked to TrustReq. If you haven't done this yet, and follow the prompts to connect your Clio account.

Once connected, go to and you will see a list of all your Clio contacts. Browse through the displayed list and select the contacts you wish to import by clicking on each one's "add" button. You can select multiple contacts at once, or just click the "select all" button.

After selecting the desired contacts, click the "Import the selected contacts into TrustReq" button. Your selected contacts will be imported into your TrustReq account, making them available for immediate use.

There are some additional important points to keep in mind!

Only contacts that have both a name and an email address will appear in the list. If a contact doesn't appear in the list below, but appears in Clio, then go to your Clio dashboard and make sure that the contact has a "primary email address".

Moreover, if you already manually created a particular contact in TrustReq, or you've previously imported a contact before, importing them again will result in duplicate contacts being created in TrustReq, so be mindful of which contacts you are importing.

For a smooth import experience, regularly update and synchronize your Clio and TrustReq accounts by importing new contacts. By following these steps, you can effortlessly import your Clio contacts into TrustReq and streamline your contact management process.

A note about region specific errors

Clio users in Canada might have a Clio account that uses Clio's USA servers, or Canadian servers, but simply being in Canada doesn't always determine this.

You can tell which region your account was created under by looking at your browser's URL when you are logged into your Clio dashboard. If the URL starts with "ca.app...", then you are using the Canadian version of Clio. That makes sense, because if you are reading this, then you are probably a Canadian licensee, as TrustReq is a Canadian made app, for Ontario licensees.

However, for technical reasons, our Clio integration (and many others) are only compatible with accounts running under USA servers. As mentioned, you might still be in Canada, but using a USA based account, in which case this integration will work as expected. In your Clio dashboard, if your URL starts with "app.clio.com..." without the "ca.app..." at the beginning, then you're on the USA version of Clio.

We're working with Clio to get this issue resolved, and we apologize for the inconvenience.
